New Born Moose

Late last week I came upon a mother moose that had just given birth on the edge of a field road.

Looked like it was just a few minutes old

She started cleaning her newborn.

It was already trying to stand

After repeated attempts, it rested a few minutes, this is also the time of the year when adult moose shed their old coats

After several more attempts it stood up.

A little wobbly but standing.

First steps!!

Off to a more secluded spot in the woods...
