an ice saw (sometimes called an ice plow) will be used to score the ice 8-9" deep, this ice is approximately 10-12" thick

the whole pond will be cut up into 18" wide strips

hand saws will be used to finish the cutting

10-12 foot long pieces will be pulled out onto the ice
