Maine Total Solar Eclipse 2024

Welcome to the official Crown of Maine page on the 2024 total Solar Eclipse! On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur for around 3 1/2 minutes. Eclipse totality will be visible in parts of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Aroostook County is the best place to view the 2024 Solar Eclipse in Maine as the path of totality is directly over Houlton, Maine! Indeed, Aroostook County is planning four days of festivals and activities that are fun for the whole family ranging from live music to Star Parks and viewing areas.

Getting to Aroostook County:

Presque Isle is Aroostook’s largest city and home to The Presque Isle International Airport, featuring United Airlines jet service directly from Newark, New Jersey. This will make traveling to Aroostook for viewing the eclipse an easy endeavor! You may also travel to Aroostook County via Cyr Bus Line Cyr Bus Line that has stops in Presque Isle, Houlton, Sherman, Medway, and Bangor.

While most campgrounds won’t be open until later in the Spring, Aroostook has many lodging establishments
